About Dr. Paul Saiz, MDver the past 22 years, Paul Saiz, MD, has become a leader in spinal surgery and the use of tantalum metal in the spine. He stands out as an early user of trabecular metal technology; a highly porous metal with properties similar to natural bone. In addition to consulting for Zimmer Spine, the industry leader in trabecular metals; Paul Saiz, MD, has presented to colleagues in Canada, Brazil, Texas, Ohio, California, Nevada, and Louisiana.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), Dr. Paul Saiz has moderated several Spine Paper Sessions at AAOS meetings. He also served on the organization’s Spine Program Subcommittee and was a past member of its Practice Management and Rehab Program Subcommittee.
Active in several other professional organizations as well, Dr. Saiz serves on the Coding Committee of the North American Spine Society. A Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Paul Saiz, MD, has held certification since 2005. He is the only spine surgeon in Southern New Mexico who is Board Certified in Spine Surgery. Dr. Paul Saiz holds a Doctor of Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and has completed a surgical internship, an orthopaedic residency, and two fellowships in Spinal Reconstruction and Musculoskeletal Oncology.
Currently practicing at Las Cruces Orthopaedic Associates, Paul Saiz, MD, specializes in spinal surgery and spinal tumors, as well as in diseases of the lumbar, cervical, and thoracic spine. He currently works at Mountain View and Memorial Medical Centers, both in Las Cruces, and is the team spine physician for New Mexico State University. In his free time, Dr. Saiz enjoys coaching a local youth soccer team, CFC Bones.
